Guru is a primadonna who wants to look externally youthful at all costs, despite his biological body ticking away in his mid 40s. His mannerisms, facial expressions and his unexpected comments provide comic relief to the team, especially when they are faced with challenges. Guru is not afraid of being different and unique and holds his head up high in this regard. He is strongly adamant that he needs to teach the ladies in the team how to act more feminine! 

PAWLA

Bubbly pawla with her spontaneous self, making people laugh with her jokes. One cannot but fall in love with Pawla and await her next comment that makes everyone burst into laughter. Pawla is very  outspoken and speaks her mind.In physical challenges she struggles, but by accepting help from team mates, she refuses to give up even in tough conditions, be it climbing a mountain in pouring rain, or else riding a bicycle in scorching heat!

AUDITIONS 2021

LIQUORISH CASTING – The hunt for the next Liquorish entourage begins. The search to find the next group of participant for the 17th edition of Liquorish begins. During the past seasons, hundreds have tried their luck, yet very few believed they could ever make it to the final. The Casting process puts forth a number of challenges for the production team, who have the complex task of selecting the best possible group for the coming unforgettable adventure. This long process of selection will lead to the eventual revelation of the participants for the 2021 adventure.

Countless questions are being asked about the auditions, and below are the answers to most of your questions:

Who can apply for the auditions?

Any person over the age of 18 can apply to be a finalist for the next Liquorish edition; this also applies to anyone who has not yet sent a formal application through the mobile app. Members from the team will be present during the auditions on location to assist any applicants who encounter any difficulty in filling the application. One does not need to have any particular qualifications or past experience on TV and practicing any extreme sports is not a necessity. Liquorish is on the lookout for both male and female participants of all ages, shapes, sizes, and coming from different aspects of life.

What will happen during the audition?

This is probably the most frequently asked question. Applicants do not need to prepare anything and do not need to jump through fire hoops during the audition. However all applicants will have few minutes to impress the production team, so first impressions do count. The team will take everything into consideration the character, looks and most importantly charisma. The applicants will meet some of the people behind the camera, who will be asking questions to get the know the applicants.

What will happen after the auditions?

All selected applicants will be asked to come in for further auditions, until the production team finds the final group of protagonist for the next edition of Liquorish – the surprise filled adventure, where everything is possible. This process will be done throughout all summer 2020. The final decision will be taken end September / beginning October.

Where will the auditions be held?

Auditions will be held at Cargo- Bar & Dine at Birgu Waterfront on Friday 10th July between 4pm and 8pm and Saturday 11th July between 9am and 5pm. The auditions are free of charge. Where will Liquorish go this year? When will the adventure be held? Who will be the chosen ones?

Had you fooled there? The answers to these questions will not be revealed until next April when the next edition of Liquorish begins. However, one thing is certain anyone reading this article could find himself in a far off destination living the most memorable adventure of his life.

THAILAND 2004

Liquorish was not my first TV experience, some of you may recall me hosting my first TV programme targeted towards pre-teens very way back. The programme lasted 850 memorable episodes, which was almost a record for a show of its sort. You probably can image the devastation I felt when the show got cancelled. It was at that moment when I decided to channel my disappointment into positive energy to create a new TV series, and that is when Liquorish was conceived.

Travelling was always a passion of mine and I thought so why not combine it with my love for television to create a brand new concept for a fresh TV programme. Having travelled to Africa a number of times, I came up with the idea to film my experience helping children in Kenya and broadcast it. The viewers were extremely receptive of the idea, so I called some of the production team members I worked with on the teen show, and explained what I had in mind.

I did not want to create an under travel show, I wanted to incorporate travel in an innovative way, which was new to the island, and that’s when the adventure- reality concept came along. A couple of years ago, series like Grande Fratello, were still new to the small screen, and I wanted to give reality a shot. The first feedback I received was not very encouraging, some of my friends expressed their concern and others thought I was insane to embark on this new series. Nevertheless they also knew that once I make up my mind it’s hard to persuade me otherwise.

Everything about this new programme was new, a new concept, a new television station, a brand new set. Our hopes weren’t very high to start with, we just aimed to find 6 participants, so we kept everything low profile, we issued a call for applications for adventurers through a newspaper. We chose a location still relatively new to the island, Thailand, which eventually became a household name associated with adventure.

The first season served as a trial to test the waters, year after year, Liquorish evolved, the designs of the studio and the set-up became more complex and the team expanded and of course so did my role in the series. Having travelled to many of the iconic adventurous locations around the globe, makes finding a new equally magnificent location for a new series extremely hard, and gives the whole team a headache. Having said this, I still believe that Liquorish has got the potential to develop further with every series as the team is constantly brainstorming on new ideas.
